Good Friday 2021 — Meditating on the Stations of the Cross

Good Friday (the Friday before Easter) is the traditional remembrance of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. This is a time of reflection on the events leading up to Jesus’s death and how those events influence our faith and our lives.

On Friday, April 2, 2021, from 6 – 8 p.m., the City Road Chapel Sanctuary will be open for a self-guided reflection on the Stations of the Cross. The Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion. The stations grew out of imitations of Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem which is believed to be the actual path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. The objective of the stations is to help the Christian faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ.

This year’s experience will involve videos outlining each of the stations, along with a reflection guide to help you think through the meaning of each event. You are welcome to come any time during the two hours, as each station will repeat over the course of the evening.

We will also be sharing this experience on-line for those who are unable to attend in person.

Come take some time to reflect on the meaning of Christ’s death in your own life.
