Church people are really good at talking about love.
But sometimes it seems like they don’t really know what they are talking about.
Part of the problem is that our English language uses the same word
to describe how we feel about our children or spouses
and what we think about a comfortable pair of shoes.
Is our love of God, our spouses, our kids, our friends, and the things we own all the same?
The Greek language of Jesus’ day used five different words to describe various types or characteristics of love. Starting on Sunday, July 9, 2017, we will be thinking about these different types of love
and how we connect them to our lives.
“Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”
