Dear City Road Chapel Child Development Center families,
It is with much sadness that I share with you the closing of the City Road Chapel Child Development Center, effective September 3, 2021.
As I shared with you earlier, there were a variety of factors that came together to create an environment where we could no longer operate the program safely and effectively. Some of this is due to the ongoing pandemic and the challenges we face as a society to operate programs like our Child Development Center. In the end, we reached a point where we cannot adequately staff the program at this time and our Church Council (our leadership team) voted last night to end the program.
This wasn’t an easy decision to make. City Road Chapel has been offering care to children in the community since 1957 and we have operated a full-time licensed daycare since 1986. This has been an important part of who we are, and there is great sadness over closing the program.
Our hope is to revisit our ability to provide care for children in 2022 (or whenever we get a better understanding of controlling COVID and what will be required to find qualified, motivated staff). That may be a part-time Mother’s Day Out type of program or it could involve creating a new daycare option, but in any case, our dream is to be able to provide assistance for families in the future.
I understand that many of you may have questions about this decision. I will be hosting a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. to answer any questions. You may access that meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83422989838?pwd=NEZzM0twUk9kWVZPclJEOFBuZmJVdz09. We will also post the link at https://cityroadchapel.org/cdc.
The Center will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 7 – 9 a.m. and Noon – 2 p.m. for you to pick up any items you may have left at the church. Diane, Teresa, and Kim will be present to answer any questions. We will have any financial information you need available at those times or we can mail you that information by the end of the week.
You have been an important part of our church. We know this puts you in the difficult situation of having to find other care, and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience. We ask the blessing of our Creator upon you and sincerely hope that you and your family will experience God’s grace in a mighty way.
Thanks for being a part of our lives.
