We learned today of the passing of one of City Road Chapel’s former pastors, the Rev. Dr. John Michael Jones, on June 12, 2023.
John Michael received his BA from Miami University of Ohio, his Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School, and his Doctorate of Ministry from Covenant Theological Seminary. He served for 37 years as a minister in the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church. John Michael served churches in Woodbury, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Manchester, Cookeville, Madison, Nashville, Smyrna, and White House. John Michael’s family grieve his passing, but rejoice in knowing that he is now at peace in his heavenly home.
John Michael is preceded in death by his parents Leland and Dorothy Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Gaylia Sue (Mahan) Jones; his three sons Michael Leland (Leslie) Jones, Benjamin David (Hillary) Jones, and Timothy Daniel (Sarah) Jones; his 11 grandchildren Nathan, Logan, Charlotte, Jacob, Sterling, Arissa, Emma, Ariah, Shepherd, Asa, and Everly.
