While the Advent and Christmas seasons can be a place of happiness for many, many others struggle with the holiday season and find it to be a time of sadness. Some of us are dealing with grief over the loss of loved ones during this time. Others harbor negative feelings from difficult family memories. The holidays can be a time of joy and lament at the same time.
Our friends at Matthews Memorial UMC are hosting a special “blue Christmas” service on the longest night of the year, Wednesday, December 21 at 6 p.m. This will be a time to acknowledge the difficult part of the holidays and ask for God’s comfort and peace open to all. They have invited other area congregations to join them and we hope that City Road Chapel folks will consider participating in this meaningful service.
