Winter Weather Update for Feb. 16, 2021

Baby, it’s cold outside!

Hopefully, you are bundled up beside the fire and keeping warm by the fire on this very cold day. Given the icy conditions and the low temperatures the church office and Child Development Center are closed again today. We are all working at home as much as possible, and if you have a specific need please email us at office@cityroadchapel.org or pastor@cityroadchapel.org.

Drive-Thru Ash Wednesday Canceled

We hate to do this, but we really doubt that our parking lot and the secondary roads will be clear by tomorrow and we want to keep folks safe so we are canceling our drive-thru Ash Wednesday imposition of ashes. Instead, we will be posting a short Ash Wednesday devotional moment on the church website and YouTube tomorrow afternoon.

In-Person Worship Scheduled to Resume This Sunday

We are still planning on coming back together for in-person worship this Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Of course, there is another winter storm scheduled to come through the area Wednesday night and Thursday, so we keep an eye on the weather conditions to determine on Saturday if it will be safe for folks to come to church. Please watch our church website, our Facebook page and group, and your email for updates.

Please pray for our homeless friends….

Due to the weather and some other challenges we have had to suspend our Showers of Blessing ministry this week. We have been in touch with our friends at Open Table Nashville and SAFPAW who do homeless outreach and we are pretty sure that the most vulnerable folks have made it to the Metro Emergency Shelter. However, there are always folks still out in the cold so please pray for those folks, asking God to provide a place for them to stay warm.

He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble. We offer the same comfort that we ourselves received from God. That is because we receive so much comfort through Christ in the same way that we share so many of Christ’s sufferings. So if we have trouble, it is to bring you comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is to bring you comfort from the experience of endurance while you go through the same sufferings that we also suffer. Our hope for you is certain, because we know that as you are partners in suffering, so also you are partners in comfort.
–2 Corinthians 1:4-7
