Supporting our Shadetree Kids with Treat Bags

For many years, a dedicated group of volunteers has traveled to one of our local apartment communities to host our Shadetree ministry for the kids of that community. Shadetree is an opportunity to build relationships with children in our area, and offer God’s love in a real way.

With the COVID-19 epidemic, we have had to suspend our in-person ministry to the children at the River Retreat Apartments. However, we have been thinking about how to reach out to the over 80 kids in that community, and as we approach Halloween (which may be canceled for many families) we decided that we could show some love by preparing “treat bags” for these children. These bags will include a craft, a bible story/devotional for kids, and lots of “treats”.

We are asking City Road Chapel folks to donate candy and other treats to put in these bags. We need these donations delivered to the church by 6 p.m. on October 23, 2020

We think the following treats are the safest for our kids:

Child’s Play mix
Dum Dums
Tootsie Pops/Blow Pops
Lollipops
3 Musketeers/Kit Kat/Hershey Bars (w/o nuts)
Milky Way/Carmello
Skittles
Caramels/Rolo
Pre-packaged popcorn balls
Double Bubble gum
Pre-packaged Pretzels
Fruit Snacks
Milk Duds/Dots/Junior Mints
Gummy Bears/Rings
York Peppermint Patties
Licorice/Twizzlers/Red Vines
Bob’s/King Leo/Brach’s Wrapped Peppermints
Pre-packaged Rice Krispy Treats
Please avoid anything with nuts or nut butters.
