City Road Chapel partners with Project Transformation

For several years, we have partnered with our friends at Matthews Memorial UMC to sponsor the Project Transformation program. Project Transformation (PT) is a program for children focused on literacy led by college-age interns who learn leadership skills as they lead the program.

Given concerns about COVID-19, PT will not be hosting in-person programs this summer, but are continuing their ministry with local families through a modified program that includes:

  • The daily distribution of supplies, grab-and-go meals, books, and other fun and educational resources at the local PT sites;
  • Online videos and interactive learning opportunities for children to engage from home focused on social-emotional learning, literacy, and camp-like enrichment skills;
  • A virtual vocational discernment experience for college-age adults.

City Road Chapel will be sharing in this work the week of June 22, 2020 through providing “Summer Camp” bags for 70 children which will be distributed at Matthews Memorial. These bags include supplies for children to use over the course of the week. You can click here to download a supply list and instructions for creating these bags.

We are also looking for folks who are not in the high-risk category for contracting the coronavirus who would be available to deliver these bags on Monday, June 22 between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Please contact Jane Armour at jkarmour@gmail.com to let her know your availability. You may also contact Jane if you have questions about the program.
