The Cumberland River District has announced the dates for the Lay Servant School for 2017. This year’s school, both the basic and advanced courses, will be held on October 20-21 at the Hendersonville United Methodist Church.
In the United Methodist Church “Lay Servants” are people who serve the local church or charge in any way in which their witness or leadership and service inspires the laity to deeper commitment to Christ and more effective discipleship. This includes the interpretation of scriptures, doctrine, organization, and ministries of the church. Lay Servants receive specialized training that helps them in their work of living out their call to be disciples of Jesus Christ in an intentional way.
