WOW Sunday on August 27

During July and August we’ve been thinking together about Gods love, our love, and how we spread love. On Sunday, August 27 we’ll offer a tangible expression of that love on our special Worship Outside the Walls (WOW!) Sunday.

The Sunday will start with 9 a.m. breakfast gathering in the Fellowship Center combined with a short time of devotion and worship. At the conclusion of worship we will send teams out to engage in acts of love to others.

Jim Neely is heading up this effort and is working with a group to identify places in the community where we can share God’s love. This includes creating Feed the Need bags in the Welcome Center, sending care packets to our shut-ins, partnering with another local congregation that needs help in dealing with water damage in their building, hand out bottled water to our neighbors driving up Neely’s Bend Rd. and other projects which allow us to carry God’s love into the world and meet Jesus in the faces of others. This Sunday is designed to remind us that our worship of God isn’t limited to a particular time and place, but rather happens whenever we are connecting to God, one another, and the world in profound ways.

Worship Outside the Walls was inspired by a similar yearly project of the Providence UMC in Mt. Juliet, the fastest growing congregation in the Tennessee Annual Conference.

The day will conclude with a great Feast Community Meal, in which we reach out to our neighbors with a free meal. We want to invite ALL who have worshiped outside the walls to come back for a great meal, good fellowship, and live music.
