Sign up today for Worship Outside the Walls

The City Road Chapel Worship Outside the Walls (WOW) Sunday is coming up on August 27, 2017 and we are excited about the opportunities we have to share God’s love with our neighbors here in Madison and beyond. Use the form at the bottom of the page to sign up for one of these wonderful outreach options:

  • Shade Tree Community Carnival
Our ShadeTree ministry group will be hosting a special event for kids in the River Retreat community. This will be a good opportunity to make new relationships with children in our area.
  • Caring Hands Sunday Morning Knitting
Our Caring Hands knitting ladies will be leading a time of knitting prayer shawls and other items to distribution to those in need.
  • Cupcake Project
Folks will be delivering cupcakes to area police and fire persons as an expression of the love of our church.
  • Feed the Need Bag Stuffing
Since it is a 4th Sunday, we will be making up new Feed the Need bags for hungry folks in our neighborhood. Since it’s a special day, we are going to make 100 bags instead of our normal 50.
  • Water Bottle Distribution (15forward group)
The 15forward group along with anyone else interested will be handing out free bottles of cold water to folks waiting in their cars at the Neely’s Bend and Gallatin Rd. intersection. These bottles will include information about our church.
  • Card Writing Group
Folks needing a more sedate service opportunity are invited to gather in the welcome center for a time of writing cards and notes to our homebound members as well as others we identify who could benefit from a note of encouragement.
  • School Supplies for Area Schools
These folks will be sorting and organizing school supplies to be given to area schools.
  • Helping a Neighbor Church
The Ruth Ensor UMC in Rayon City has experienced some water damage in their basement and is needing up pulling up carpet and washing down surfaces with bleach water to deal with mold. This project may be more physically demanding.
  • The Quiet Space
Sheryl McIlvaine will be opening the Quiet Space on that Sunday and orienting volunteers to that ministry.

There are also two other projects in the works that we don’t have completely firmed up yet:

  • Worship at Maybelle Carter
We are hoping we can send a team over to Maybelle Carter Assisted and Memory Care to lead a time of singing and worship.
  • Ministry at Lexington Gardens
We are hoping to work with our friends at Project Connect to engage in some form of ministry project at the Lexington Garden apartments.

Please complete the form below selecting all the opportunities in which you have an interest. For more information contact Jim Neely at jimneely@att.net.
