This Sunday is the 4th one of the month, which means it’s time for our monthly focus on serving our community. This week will focus on two regular ministries of our church — Feed the Need and The Feast Community Meal.
Feed the Need
Immediately following the 10 a.m. service folks are invited to gather in the Welcome Center for a quick time of stuffing food bags to be distributed to the needy throughout the coming months. Every day someone will come by our church hungry and in need of a meal. Our Feed the Need bags provide sustenance for a 24 hour period and allow us a tangible way to meet the needs of the hungry. Currently, we distribute around 50 bags per month at the direction of our pastors. Bag stuffing is usually done in 20-30 minutes (depending on the number of helpers) and is an easy way to make a difference in someone’s life.
The Feast Community Meal
The Feast (The Madison Community Meal) has been a noted program of our church for several years. The Feast provides a free meal to all persons, with a special focus on those who are struggling to make ends meet at the end of the month. Every month between 40-70 folks from our neighborhood gather for a good meal, fellowship, and even some halfway decent music on occasion. We ALWAYS need helpers for the community meal, including meal servers and people to simply greet and talk to our guests. Helpers are invited to show up at 4 p.m. to assist with set up, and the meal start promptly at 5 p.m. For more information on The Feast contact Jim Neely.
