Welcome to the City Road Chapel UMC website. On behalf of all the City Road family I want to thank you for checking us out, and hope that you will get a better sense of who we are by what we’ve posted here. We are a community of men and women of all ages and backgrounds who are focused on growing as disciples of Jesus Christ and sent to share God’s love which hopefully leads us to make a difference in the Madison area.
There is certainly no shortage of churches in Nashville, including Madison. There are churches of all kinds, denominations, and theological persuasions. All of them contain faithful people who are seeking after God and trying to live out what they believe is God’s desires for their lives. We make no claim of being different or unique from those congregations. We honor what they are doing and their attempts to live out Christ’s commands in the world.
Yet, all congregations are unique in the sense that they reflect a bit of the people involved and (hopefully) something of the community where they are located. As we’ve thought about who we are as a church we’ve recognized that our location and our calling as Christians in the United Methodist (Wesleyan) tradition is to try as best we can to live out Christ’s great command to love God with all our being, and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. It’s that calling that leads us to be a people focused on making a difference — in our church, in our neighborhood, and in the world.
We may not be the flashiest church in the world. We may not have the best praise band. Our facilities may be older than newer. We may not be especially hip or cool or whatever other adjective you might use to describe a church.
But, if you are looking for a place that takes seriously Christ’s call to make a difference in the lives of others, then we just might indeed be a church that you want to check out.
