The 7 Last Words: A Service of Worship for Good Friday

The seven last words of Christ or seven sayings of Jesus on the cross are a traditional collection of short phrases uttered by Jesus at his crucifixion immediately before he died, gathered from the four Gospels. For many years a variety of composers have put these musical sayings to music, and this year our Good Friday service of worship is built around Theodore Dubois’s rendition, originally written in 1867. The service will include musical performances by our Chancel Choir, congregational liturgy, and a reflection on the meaning of the cross. Come join us for this meaningful service of worship and remembrance.
